If you read my post last month, you know that I gained a bunch of weight in the past year, and I’m ready to lose it. Well, since I threw down the gauntlet, blog-style, I’ve been busy working on turning around my runaway train to obesity. That’s really how it feels.

All of my daily habits and thought patterns were moving in the direction of fat-itude, and FAST. First, I had to slow down the train (stop binging on junk food), get it to a full stop (make a plan for weight loss) and s-l-o-w-l-y push the train in the opposite direction. That included making a mental commitment to change, joining a local gym, signing up for a year of weekly personal training sessions and tracking my daily food intake/exercise.

God, it’s hard. I might be particularly complain-y right now because my muscles are ridiculously sore 36 hours after one of my first personal training sessions. That young, blond, muscly whippersnapper showed me no mercy. Just 30 minutes of punishing my wobbly, sedentary ass (he called it “shocking” the muscles. I’d definitely agree they were shocked). And there’s nothing in the house to snack on, other than healthy stuff, so I’m jonesin’ for my old nightly goodies.

Can’t say exactly if I’ve lost any weight yet. I get my official measurements taken next week at my personal training session, and that’s where I’m going to start with numbers. But as hard as this is, I’m glad as hell I’ve at least turned the train around and gotten myself back on track. I just have to keep telling myself, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…”
